Hello, tufted girlie chair. My how pretty you look today!
One of the goals for my home office makeover was to turn it from merely a workspace into a retreat — a place to step away from the bustle of the rest of the house and actually relax while getting work done.
My daughters and I have a clear vision for this room. When they’re here, we want a sanctuary from the noise: a calm, feminine corner where we can focus, create, and recharge.
We have two male dogs (and a big thank-you to everyone who’s asked about Winston — he just celebrated his 17th birthday!), plus two human males at home. With the boys outnumbering the girls, we wanted a space that felt decidedly girl-focused: girl music, soft scents, good conversation, and a soothing atmosphere.

We imagined a room where we could literally shut the door and retreat to work, blog, or dream without distractions. To complete that vision, we needed the right seating — the kind of chairs that feel like an invitation to linger.
At first the plan was to slipcover a pair of wingback chairs, one for each daughter. But plans changed when we stumbled upon a friends-and-family sale at Cost Plus World Market. Wandering through the store, we found these little beauties — the kind of chairs that instantly felt like home.
They were the perfect girl accent chairs.
Tufted.
Understated.
Sophisticated.
Whimsical.
Feminine.
The kind of chair that inspires a firm but playful rule: no dogs and no boys allowed.
We could still slipcover the wingbacks later and use them in another room, so choosing these chairs felt right for the office.
We circled them, sat in them, took pictures, and admired every detail. They drew us in until we simply agreed — they were meant to be.
The decision was made: these were the perfect chairs for our girl office.

Hello cute little fabric-covered buttons.

Welcome home.
If you liked the curtains in this office, I shared more about them elsewhere.
