Living on Washington’s coast means our outdoor furniture faces salty air and changing weather all year. This summer we refreshed our porch with durable POLYWOOD outdoor pieces designed to withstand the Pacific Northwest elements while keeping a classic, clean look.

We chose POLYWOOD because it performs well in coastal climates and offers practical, eco-friendly benefits. Key features include:

  • Weather resistance that holds up to sun, rain, and salt air
  • Low maintenance—no painting or sealing required
  • Made in the USA
  • Constructed from recycled plastic
  • Backed by a 20-year warranty

What we added to our porch

We selected a mix of seating and tables to create a comfortable, functional outdoor living area:

  • Two white rocking chairs with Chippendale-style backs—perfect for quiet mornings and evening porch sitting.
  • A charming bench paired with a striped cushion that doubles as a cozy spot for our dogs to perch and watch the neighborhood.
  • Two taller side tables that work for serving, coffee, lunches, or placing a laptop while working outdoors.

Some POLYWOOD items are also available through major retailers, which makes finding specific pieces and seasonal deals easy.

We also added a couple of smaller POLYWOOD items for the backyard that I’ll feature separately: a sweet kids’ bench with a buffalo-check cushion and a narrow console table for another deck—both practical and attractive additions.

All the new pieces look fresh against our white railings and help give the porch a cohesive, relaxed coastal vibe.

To complete the look I added summer floral pillows and a simple outdoor lamp. Those small details bring color and softness to the seating area while keeping the overall aesthetic clean and coastal.

I also replaced old planters with new white planters and planted a dwarf lilac in one—hoping for fragrant blooms next spring. The white planters complement the POLYWOOD pieces and the porch railing for a unified, bright appearance.
