We don’t usually decorate extensively for Halloween, but being new to the neighborhood, we decided a simple banner would be a friendly way to let kids and parents know they’re welcome to grab a treat from our porch.
Banners are perfect for seasonal decorating
Banners are an ideal choice for small spaces because they don’t take up room on a porch, mantel, or wall, and they’re easy to store. Foldable and lightweight, they tuck away neatly until next year, making them a practical, low-effort option for seasonal style.

I found a charming “Trick or Treat” banner that fits our porch perfectly.

Use versatile containers for seasonal touches
I also like using baskets and other containers as seasonal decor. They work year-round, so you can save money and storage space by swapping contents instead of buying new items each season. A basket filled with autumn foliage or small accents creates a welcoming, cozy look without clutter.
A simple door basket is an easy way to add charm to your entry without committing to large decorations.
Will kids come trick-or-treating in our neighborhood? I’m not sure, but either way I’ll be happy to enjoy a few Reese’s peanut butter cups from my stash.
