Glidden Paint Review and Giveaway (Now Closed)

The Inspired Room Coffee Station Paint color: Glidden Polished Grey

For regular readers of my blog, you know we spent a lot of time repainting rooms in our previous home. Although the house was new when we bought it, the builder’s paint choice and finish weren’t to our taste — the color felt flat and the quality looked dry. I couldn’t wait to refresh it.

Over the six and a half years we lived there, we painted nearly every room, sometimes more than once while hunting for the perfect shade. We started painting the trim too, but didn’t complete every room before we moved. Even so, it was worth the effort. While painting can be messy and occasionally tedious, the transformation it brings to a room is always rewarding.

Not all paint is created equal, and after painting dozens of rooms across multiple homes, I’m selective about brands and finishes. If I’m investing time and money into a paint project, I want a smooth process and a beautiful, durable result. For many of our busiest, most-used rooms we chose Glidden Paint, and the outcome exceeded expectations.

We applied Glidden in high-traffic spaces: the family room, master bedroom, bathrooms, laundry room and the TV room. Years later those rooms still looked great and didn’t need repainting. The paint applied smoothly, often covering in one or two coats depending on the surface, and it cleaned up well after regular use. It held up to daily wear and remained easy to maintain.

I like to revisit past projects and share follow-ups so you can see how choices perform over time. In our experience, Glidden delivered a reliable finish that lasted. In our current home I’ll continue to use it without hesitation. The formula we chose is a paint-and-primer-in-one, which made coverage easier and reduced the number of coats needed. For most living spaces I prefer an eggshell finish for its balance of durability and subtle sheen. In less-used rooms a flat finish can be a lovely option.

When planning a paint project, think about the room’s function and traffic. High-touch areas benefit from finishes that clean easily and resist scuffs. Good lighting and sample swatches help you confirm a color in your specific space before committing. Take the time to prep properly—clean, sand and prime surfaces as needed—to ensure a smooth application and long-lasting result.

Painting can be one of the most cost-effective ways to update a home. It changes the mood, highlights architectural details, and can make rooms feel larger or cozier depending on the color choice. Whether you’re refreshing a single accent wall or repainting an entire house, choosing a quality paint and taking care with preparation will make the project more satisfying and durable.

We enjoyed sharing our experience with Glidden because it performed consistently well in rooms we used every day. If you’re considering a painting weekend, pick a durable finish for busy areas and test a few swatches in different light. Small changes mounted on careful planning deliver a big impact.
