Spring Home Refresh Challenge: Week 3 (Spring 2016)

The Love Your Home Challenge - based on the NY Times Best Seller Love the Home You Have - The Inspired Room

Welcome to week three of The Love Your Home Challenge — the Spring edition! I’m glad you’ve joined us. Sharing the weekly challenges here and on Instagram has been a joy, and we’re already partway through the 31 days. I hope you’re finding it as fun and motivating as I am.

When I think about each day’s focus, I’m reminded of the small details that turn a house into a home. The daily prompts don’t just give me ideas — they push me to take action. These focused tasks help us make real progress on the things we can touch, see, and enjoy today.

Our feeds are full of beautiful rooms and inspiring makeovers, but these simple, everyday tasks are valuable because they’re practical and immediate. The little things we do right now—updating a frame, tidying a drawer, arranging fresh flowers—add up and make a real difference in how our homes feel.

Enjoy this week’s challenges and come back to share which ones you completed. Feel free to post your progress on Instagram or Home Love Stories and invite friends to join in.

Week Three - Love Your Home Challenge

Day 15 – Making Memories: Many of our favorite photos live on phones or computers instead of in frames. Today, scroll through your images, choose a few candid or special moments, and print them—either through an online photo service or from a home printer. Update a few frames, and consider mailing prints to family to brighten their day.

Day 16 – A Place of Your Own: Do you have a comfy chair, desk, or corner that’s yours? Treat that spot to a little love. Add a spring pillow, declutter your desk, place a small vase of flowers, keep a special mug for your coffee or tea, or stack fresh reading material by your chair. Make this space inspiring and inviting just for you.

Day 17 – Lovely Linens: Refresh and streamline your linens. Remove extras you don’t use and tidy the shelf or closet where bedding is stored. Create a simple linen spray to keep everything smelling clean—my favorite blend is a few drops of lavender and lemon essential oils mixed with water in a small glass spray bottle.

Day 18 – A Gracious Giver: Organize your gift-wrap supplies so wrapping becomes a pleasure instead of a scramble. Gather paper, ribbons, tags, and embellishments and set up a neat area for wrapping. You can make or print a few tags, refresh your supplies with something special, or simply organize what you already have to make gift-giving feel thoughtful and easy.

Day 19 – Make it Sparkle: Focus on the bathroom today. Deep-clean the whole room if you can, or give attention to one neglected area. Clean mirrors, polish faucets, reorganize a drawer, or refresh linens—small actions make the room shine and lift your spirits.

Day 20 – Music to Your Soul: Music changes the mood of a home. Curate playlists for different moments: a cleaning soundtrack to keep you motivated, a dinner playlist for pleasant evenings, or an inspirational set of songs that lift your spirits. Use your preferred music service or app to organize tunes for easy access.

Day 21 – A Cleaning Frenzy: Spend 15 focused minutes tidying or cleaning a specific area. Take a quick “before” photo, set a timer for 15 minutes, play your cleaning playlist, and get to work. When the timer ends, snap an “after” photo—small, timed bursts of effort often yield satisfying results.
