Creative Spring Centerpiece Ideas for Fresh Seasonal Decor

I think a little spring decorating would lift our spirits this week, don’t you? Spring feels different this year, but I keep seasonal decorating simple because simplicity always works. A grocery-store bouquet of tulips on the table can be enough to brighten the day. This week I’m not running out just for flowers, and you might not be either. Maybe I’ll add tulips to my next grocery order, or a local florist might still deliver. Nothing feels quite normal right now, but small touches can still help.

Many of you are doing the 31 Day Love Your Home Challenge. We aren’t to day ten yet, but when you get there you’ll find the challenge to “reclaim the dining room.” It’s one of my favorites. You can always do day ten early if you feel motivated.

If your dining room is piled with papers and clutter, it’s hard to relax there. Many of us are cooking and eating at home more than before, so making the dining room feel inviting matters. Clear the table, wipe it down, and then add a simple decorative touch.

The sun has been out here in Seattle for a couple of days, which inspired me to do something spring-like. Foraging in my yard for cuttings was the plant therapy I needed.

If you have a garden, look for spring blooms, branches, or ferns. I found pink and white camellias in mine. No matter what you have, you can create a pretty centerpiece with it.

This is a season to get creative. I have a longer post about creative ideas coming soon, but for now, start by checking your cabinets and stepping into the yard to see what you can use.

My Bunny Pitcher Source

Remember my bunny pitcher? Today I filled her with a mix of faux spring flowers and a fresh camellia bloom from the backyard. Her pink flower “hair” makes me smile—like an Easter bonnet. It’s perfectly fine to use faux flowers, or a mix of faux and fresh. I wanted tulips, but now isn’t the time to be picky—enjoy what you have.

You don’t need a special vase or a bunny pitcher. Use anything pretty you have on hand. If you own my book Simple Gatherings, flip through it for examples of how everyday items make lovely centerpieces.

Gather colored books, teacups, a tray, placemats, a candlestick, a cake stand, a small statue, or any spring-like objects. Have fun arranging them and take photos so you’ll be ready to share your table and centerpiece on day ten.

I can’t wait to see what you create. Share a photo in The Inspired Room Facebook group or tag me @theinspiredroom on Instagram so I can see!

Simple Spring Centerpiece

Step One:

Pick a vase—any vase.

Use whatever you have: a jar, a pitcher, or even a water glass.

Step Two:

Go outside and find anything you can cut and bring inside.

Flowers, branches, or greenery—anything goes. Bonus: take a few deep breaths of fresh air before you come back in.

Step Three:

Set your foraged finds into the vase and put it on your table. Step back and smile!

Ta-da! A cheerful spring centerpiece that cost nothing and added a little joy to your day.

Oh, Jack says hi. He desperately needs a haircut, and since we’re avoiding going out, his haircut will be at home—probably not pretty. Wish us luck!

Happy spring, friend!
