Today I’m thrilled to reveal the cover of my new book, The Inspired Room.
I’ve been working behind the scenes on this second book for some time, and I’m excited to announce that The Inspired Room will be released on November 1. My first book, Love The Home You Have, was a New York Times Bestseller and shared simple, practical ideas to help you love and appreciate your home as it is. That book set the tone for this community and provided the foundation for everything I share here.

The Inspired Room focuses on decorating in ways that are inspiring and affordable. It’s filled with practical tips and full-color photographs taken by me and my daughter Courtney—an intimidating but rewarding process! You’ll also find charming hand-drawn illustrations by Nicole Johnson, who contributed art to my first book. The whole design is warm and whimsical, and I can’t wait for you to see the finished pages.

Now that the book is finished and off to the printer, I feel a huge sense of relief and gratitude. My daughters were a big part of this journey, and I’m thankful to the talented teams at Harvest House and Faceout Studio who helped bring the words and photos together into something special.
Designing the cover was a collaborative process. I had a clear vision: unlike many design or coffee table books that feature a photo on the cover, I wanted something different—something that felt personal and inviting. I wanted a cover that would draw you in, a book you’d be happy to pick up, hold, and display.

The goal was for the cover to feel fresh, friendly, and lively—full of texture, color, and a pattern that reflects what a home should be: a lived-in place for happiness, creativity, and memory-making, not a showpiece. Home is where life happens and where love should be visible.

When I saw the final cover design, I knew it was the one. A delightful detail is the copper leaf accents on the cover—they shimmer subtly and add a tactile, handcrafted feel that I love.

Although the book features my home, words, and photographs, it was created for you. It’s not meant to impress with perfection, but to encourage and inspire. The rooms shown are real, imperfect, and always evolving—just like most of our homes.
The Inspired Room offers ideas for creating a welcoming, real-life home on a reasonable budget—using what you already have and layering in pieces over time. Whether your home feels perfect now or you’re just beginning to shape it, authentic spaces are created one day at a time, right where you are. This book is for anyone who wants a home they love and feel content in.
Despite being a high-quality, large-format, 208-page full-color book, The Inspired Room is priced affordably. It retails at $26.95 and is available for pre-order from major retailers; pre-ordering ensures you’ll receive your copy when the book ships in November—perfect timing for holiday gifting.

I look forward to sharing more about the writing and photographing process. My daughters and I enjoyed every part of this project—from brainstorming to visiting the publisher to seeing the layout come together—and celebrating the final result.

This book was made with lots of love, laughter, late nights, and many early mornings at coffee shops.
I’ll be speaking about the book and the publishing process at the Haven Conference in Atlanta next week, along with Marian (Miss Mustard Seed). If you’re attending, please stop by our session—I’d love to meet you.
Thank you for the kindness and support you’ve shown our family during this journey. I’m humbled and grateful.
