My husband and I adore this house on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. It feels like the kind of grand, well-loved family home you hope will be handed down through generations—ideally with an inheritance that covers all the upkeep and gardening. A girl can dream, right?
The property is tucked behind a privacy hedge and mature trees, which made photographing it a challenge. I almost wanted to hop over the barrier to get a better view — the architecture is just that charming — but I settled for capturing what I could from the street. Even so, you can probably imagine how lovely it is.
I kept wondering what the room with that large, beautiful window looks like inside. The rooflines and detailing are stunning—classic features that give the house a timeless, storybook quality.
This is the street in front of the house. Drive-by house stalking can be tricky—when a property is so wrapped in landscaping, you can’t simply snap a clear photo from the curb. To really reveal places like this, you’d almost need to scale the hedges, which of course isn’t polite or practical.
Towering trees obscure much of the right side of the house, adding to its sense of privacy and making parts of the exterior a delightful mystery.
The front entry looked wonderful from what I could see, but it was impossible to capture well through the foliage. Perhaps the owners prefer it that way—secret porches and tucked-away doors feel especially inviting.
