YYou know I always say that making a home is a slow, ongoing process. We’ve lived in our Seattle house for just over four years, and despite what decorating shows suggest, most of us build our spaces gradually. We collect pieces, rethink arrangements, reuse what we already have, and tweak things until the room feels right. Then inspiration strikes and we refresh the look again—at least that’s how it goes here!
I truly enjoy shaping a cozy, welcoming home for my family, and often that means simplifying, editing and making smarter choices about what we keep.
This year I want to focus on:
- STREAMLINING our furniture
- SIMPLIFYING what we own
- ORGANIZING the things we keep
A good place to start is evaluating how each room feels and functions. In smaller homes especially, it’s helpful to identify pieces that work well and those that could be rearranged, removed, or replaced with something more attractive, practical, or comfortable. Thoughtful edits make small spaces feel larger and more purposeful.
I already have a few projects underway that I’m excited to share soon—budget-friendly makeovers, neat organizing solutions, and a few simple swaps that make a big difference. Stay tuned for updates and before-and-after progress.
I also rounded up some favorite furniture finds from the World Market sale, plus a few pieces my daughters and I use and love in our homes.
