As 2023 comes to a close, I thought it would be fun to share The Inspired Room readers’ favorite decor finds from the year. After finishing renovations in my home, I was finally able to do some decorating and I’m excited to continue styling (and less construction!) into 2024.
For the past 17 years I’ve been sharing affordable, timeless, and stylish decor to help readers make their homes feel welcoming. I mostly recommend items I own or would happily buy for my own spaces. Hearing from readers who purchased something I recommended never gets old — it’s such a joy to know these finds work well in real homes.
Here are YOUR favorites for 2023 (and many of mine, too):

Jute and cotton rug – I added this rug in 2023 and love how soft it is. It doesn’t shed, comes in several colors, and feels cozy underfoot. Using a rug pad makes it even plusher and helps it stay in place.
Plaid chair – I have both plaid and striped versions of this chair throughout our home. They’re compact and comfortable, perfect for small spaces. I sit in the plaid chair by the fire every day — it’s cozy and inviting.
Patterned rug in ocean/gold – We use this rug in our dining room; it brings color and pattern while still feeling classic and easy to live with.
Patterned cork-back placemats – These have been a reader favorite for good reason. They’re sturdy, well-made, and the cork backing keeps them in place. I store ours in a basket on the island for easy access.
Reversible throw blanket – Lightweight, machine washable, and super soft, these reversible throws come in many patterns and colors. They’re great for sofas, chairs, and layering on beds.
Rattan serving cart – This has been a useful and stylish addition in our kitchen. It works well for serving and as a flexible storage surface.
Wood folding tray table (set of 2) – These simple tray tables are handy for small spaces and make entertaining easy. They fold away when not in use and look great displayed together.
Meadow art print – A gentle, whimsical print that adds charm to a room. It’s one of those pieces that brightens a wall without overwhelming the space.
Jute-wrapped chandelier with shades – We installed this in our dining room. The jute adds warmth and texture, and you can choose different shade options or use it without shades for a different look.
Buffalo check curtains – I have chambray buffalo check curtains in my bedroom. They bring pattern and softness to the windows while keeping the overall feel calm and classic.
Toaster oven with air fryer – A compact appliance that works great as a main oven in a tiny cottage or as backup during busy holiday cooking. It’s versatile and saves space.
Faux tulips – These realistic faux tulips look fresh and springlike year-round. They come in several colors and are a simple way to add life to a tabletop or shelf.
Hobnail goblets – These goblets are pretty, sturdy, and come in a lovely green color. They’ve been a favorite for everyday use and special occasions alike.
Brass pharmacy floor lamp – I use this lamp in my bedroom. It provides elegant task lighting and pairs well with a variety of decor styles.
Brass wall sconces with linen shades (set of 2) – These plug-in wall lights were a great no-wire solution, and after experimenting with rechargeable bulbs, I later hardwired one and added a patterned shade for a fresh update.
Window candles – Battery-operated window candles are a favorite for cozy winter evenings. The brand many readers love has special features that make them stand out; they make a lovely, low-effort display that feels festive and peaceful.
Hanging lit stars – We hang these on our porch each year. They’ve become a seasonal tradition that adds a warm, welcoming glow to our exterior decor.
Leather armchair – I’ve owned the loveseat version for years and it has only improved with age. Leather pieces like this develop beautiful patina and hold up well over time.
Simply Home book – Thank you for the support after the release of my latest book, which combines two popular paperbacks into one hardback edition. I’m grateful for every reader who welcomed it into their home.
Rattan accent cabinet – Small accent cabinets are incredibly versatile. I’ve used them as entry command centers, for office supplies, bedding storage, or to organize entertaining essentials.
Honorable mentions:
Garden hose – We tried a new garden hose last summer (available in 50- and 100-foot sizes) and it’s been the best hose we’ve used: flexible, durable, and easy to store.
Bamboo window shades – We recently installed bamboo shades in our home and have received messages from readers who love them too. They add texture and a natural feel to windows while still looking tailored.
Bestsellers from my Amazon storefront – A curated collection of items readers return to again and again.
