Hi, Kylee here. I want to share some of my favorite cleaning tools—gadgets that genuinely make chores easier and more efficient. I believe in keeping things simple: fewer, multi-purpose items that actually work instead of cluttering drawers with single-use products. For cleaning solutions, I stick to one all-purpose cleaner for most surfaces, and common staples like vinegar, baking soda, and a few essential oils. Having fewer bottles and less clutter is freeing—simple is best.

First up: my 10-in-1 steam mop. It’s more than a floor tool—it converts to a handheld steamer with attachments for clothes, grout, windows, countertops, and more. I love that it sanitizes with steam alone—no chemical cleaners required. The unit is lightweight and easy to handle. It was indispensable when we deep-cleaned our last home before selling: it loosened grime from window sills, brightened a grimy shower floor, and removed moss and slime from our balcony. The steam mop is especially great on tile; with hardwood I take care not to linger in one spot—quick passes have worked well for me. I also recommend extra washable mop pads so you always have spares. Pro tip: add a few drops of eucalyptus or another essential oil to a pad for a fresh scent.

For stubborn toilet rings and hard-water buildup, a pumice cleaning stone is a simple, effective solution. It removes stains without harsh chemicals—just wet the stone and the surface and gently rub. It’s one of those small tools that does a surprisingly good job.

An electric power scrubber is a daily workhorse for me. I own several and assign them to different tasks—one for toilets, others for sinks and showers—so I avoid cross-contamination. The scrubber gives extra power and reduces elbow grease, making grout and tiled showers much easier to clean. Various brush heads let you tackle tight corners and textured surfaces without straining.

These scrubbers reach tricky spots and come with interchangeable brush heads that are handy for different surfaces and levels of grime.

A simple soap-dispensing brush has become one of my shower essentials. I keep one filled with a gentle, non-toxic cleaner and use it to quickly scrub surfaces before stepping out, which prevents buildup. It’s a small daily habit that keeps the shower much cleaner over time. Use a mild solution since you’ll be working in a steamy environment.

Magic erasers are a classic for removing scuffs and marks, but you don’t need brand names to get great results. Generic melamine sponges clean tough marks efficiently and are very affordable. Keep a few on hand for baseboards, walls, and other stubborn spots.

A portable spot-cleaning machine is one of my favorite deep-clean tools. I use it on rugs, upholstered furniture, outdoor cushions, and in the car. It agitates and extracts dirt, pulling stains out of fabric rather than just masking them. While manufacturers may recommend their own solutions, I’ve had good results using a small amount of a gentle, non-toxic cleaner diluted with water.

A handheld lint and pet-hair remover was a viral find for me and quickly became indispensable. If you have pets or carpet, this tool lifts embedded hair that vacuums often miss. I used it on carpeted stairs and was amazed at how much came up. It’s also useful on furniture, pillows, and clothing—just be careful on delicate fabrics to avoid snagging.
