It’s finally here: the first of three before & after features in BHG’s Do It Yourself Magazine has arrived on newsstands.

You might remember we mentioned the two-day photo shoot last October and later shared the lessons we learned from watching professional stylists transform each room in our home. Now we’re excited to share the results of that work — all ten glossy pages showcasing the makeovers.
We’re particularly proud of this feature because we wrote it ourselves, which was our first national magazine byline. If you want to read the text from each page online, it’s available on DIYideas.com. Of course you can also grab a physical copy of the Spring 2009 issue at many retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Target, Home Depot, and other places that sell magazines — just be sure you pick up the Spring 2009 edition rather than older winter issues that might still be on the shelves.
The original before photos may look familiar, but the styled after images give the rooms a fresh, updated feel. The issue also includes other inspiring projects: a pair of striking bathroom makeovers, a charming Los Angeles cottage transformation, and practical painting tips that are easy to put into practice.
We’d love to hear what you think. Which articles stand out to you, and which DIY projects are you likely to try? We’ll be sharing Part II of our before & after story in a few months, so stay tuned for more updates.
