It’s Pick Your Prize Weekend here at The Inspired Room. The past few weeks have been difficult, but I’m finally getting back into the swing of things. As many of you know, my daughter required emergency surgery last week. She’s recovering well now, and I’m deeply grateful for all your kind comments, messages, and concern.
On the day of her appendectomy I remember following the ambulance to the hospital, feeling stunned and unsure. After they wheeled her inside and she was given medication for surgery, I sat in the waiting area in a fog—afraid, worried, and feeling alone (my husband was still home getting our son and the dogs settled). I paced the hallway, trying to keep my composure.
As I walked past the hospital gift shop, something in the window caught my eye. My friend Dee’s artwork from Red Letter Words—the Urban Soul pieces carried by DaySpring—was displayed there. Seeing those words felt like a small, timely message meant just for me. I felt reassured in that moment; it reminded me I wasn’t alone and that things would be okay.
