Hello, tufted girlie chair. My, how pretty you look today!
One of the goals for my home office makeover was to turn it from a simple workspace into a quiet retreat—a place to step away from the rest of the house and actually enjoy working.
My daughters and I share a clear vision for this room.
When the girls are around, we want a calm spot to escape the chaos of the main living areas.
We have two male dogs (and thanks to everyone who asked about Winston—he just celebrated his 17th birthday!) and two human males in the house. The boys outnumber the girls, so we wanted a room where we could be just that: girls. Girl music, girl scents, girl talk, and a peaceful, feminine vibe.
Need I say more?

We imagined a spot where the girls of the house could literally shut the door and work, write, or dream without interruptions.
To complete that vision, we needed the right chairs—soft, pretty, and inviting. You know the kind.
At first I planned to have a couple of wingback chairs slipcovered—one for each daughter—but plans evolved as they often do.
About a week ago we discovered a friends-and-family sale at Cost Plus World Market. Wandering through the store, we found these little treasures. They practically called our names.
They were the perfect girl accent chairs.
Tufted.
Understated.
Sophisticated.
Whimsical.
Feminine.
The kind of chair that makes you want to declare, “no dogs and no boys allowed.”
The wingbacks can still be slipcovered and used elsewhere later, so we felt good about changing course.
We circled the tufted chairs, sat in them, photographed them, and admired every detail. We consulted each other and agreed—they were meant to be.
The decision was made: these were perfect for our girl office.
Hello cute little fabric-covered buttons.
Hello, chairs that are cute as a button.
Welcome home.
Did you notice the curtains in this office? I love how they tie the room together.
