I have always loved beautiful dishes and thoughtful table settings, especially in spring. Today I’m sharing a peek at our new spring dinnerware, Easter tabletop pieces, and accessories from Williams Sonoma.

Our kitchen and dining room renovation isn’t finished yet, but I’m already collecting favorite accessories and tableware so I’ll be ready when the rooms are complete. Decorating will be so much fun!
Our cabinets arrive on Friday, so things are getting close. I love dishes so much that one of my must-haves for the new kitchen and dining room was ample display and storage space. We added glass-front cabinets, a dish display hutch, and bookcases in the dining room that will double as storage for seasonal accessories and pretty serving pieces.

When Williams Sonoma asked if we’d like to feature some of their tabletop collections, we were thrilled. We found so many lovely pieces and wanted to share a few favorites. We’ll show these dishes in the finished kitchen and dining room, but I couldn’t resist giving you an early look.
You may wonder where this table is set while the remodel is in full swing. Courtney and I actually pulled the dining table into the gutted kitchen to create a surface for photographing the table—creative staging amid the chaos!
SIX OF MY FAVORITE TABLE SETTING TIPS:

Mix and match table settings for a charming look
One of my favorite tricks is to mix and match dishes. An informal blend of colors and patterns makes a table feel inviting and full of character. Mixing styles creates a comfortable, collected look that’s perfect for spring gatherings.

Build a dish collection over time
Mixing pieces is an easy way to grow a collection gradually. My husband might gift a whimsical bunny plate, while I’ll pick up a pretty salad plate or pitcher. You don’t need every piece to match—an assortment of platters, bowls, and accent plates layered with everyday dishes is both practical and charming.

Create a mood board or try out options on your table!
To plan this spring table, we made a mood board of favorite pieces from different collections to achieve that collected-over-time vibe. You can create a digital mood board, but I find it even more fun to lay pieces out on the table and experiment. Try unexpected combinations—mix colors, patterns, and textures until you find a look you love.

Tablecloths, napkins and chargers add color, patterns and textures
Once you have a mix of dishes, table linens and chargers can elevate the setting. We used a neutral linen tablecloth as a backdrop that works with seasonal pieces in any color. Woven chargers add texture, and patterned tablecloths or colored napkins can introduce extra personality. Collect a few seasonal linens to change the mood for special occasions.

Create special family memories around the table
While setting this table we remembered family traditions tied to spring and holiday meals. Dishes are more than functional—they become part of family stories and rituals that bring people together year after year.

Tiered Egg Treat Jar
In my book Simple Gatherings I wrote about how small, thoughtful touches make gatherings memorable. The nostalgic bunny accessories and Easter confections brought back memories of dressing up for Easter, egg hunts, and countless family brunches set with pretty tableware.
Setting this table in the middle of a remodel was a bright moment—a reminder of the many future family meals we’ll share in this home.

Dishes can create memories for generations
Choose tableware with an eye to the future—pieces like etched goblets and classic pitchers can evoke family memories for years to come. I remember my grandmother’s glassware and my mother’s floral dishes; I hope these pieces become part of our family’s traditions and are passed down someday.
I’m excited to make new memories with my children around these tables—and to pass those traditions on to future generations.
A playful detail we’ve always enjoyed is scattering colorful foil chocolate eggs around the table. Little touches like that bring whimsy and spark joy at every age—almost like a mini egg hunt right at the place settings.

Blue and White Dinner Plates // Scenic Appetizer Plates

Williams Sonoma offers many charming seasonal treats that make lovely gifts. We sprinkled chocolate praline foil eggs around the table and included Easter Bunny Bark in a tiered egg treat jar—both are festive and delicious additions to a spring tablescape.

Mini chocolate egg cartons make adorable place settings or additions to Easter baskets—small details that delight guests and family alike.
