Spring is in the air, and I’m thinking about green.

Whether it’s plants, books, fabrics, accessories, paint, lighting, fruit or vegetables, introducing a touch of green instantly enlivens a room. This season I especially love pairing fresh greens with white for a crisp, uplifting palette. At home I find myself hunting for green books to stack, selecting green accessories to display, and of course bringing in plenty of plants.

Have you noticed how many magazine rooms include something organic, like a plant or a bouquet? I adore bouquets, but they don’t last. Years ago I asked my husband to bring a potted plant instead of cut flowers because it would thrive longer—a practical choice that I still appreciate. Plants add texture, color and life to a space. Yes, some plants struggle, but many thrive, and even those that don’t usually outlast a short-lived bouquet. It’s worth experimenting to discover what grows well in your home.
