Here’s a simple DIY centerpiece I’ve made in many variations for years. It’s quick, easy, and perfect when you need a last-minute table focal point and want to move on to being a relaxed, confident host.

How to make this easy centerpiece: No fancy tools required—just a little creativity and whatever you have on hand.
WREATH CENTERPIECE TUTORIAL
1. Take any wreath you have and fill the center with faux or real fruit, vegetables, pine cones, ornaments, moss, shells, or whatever fits the season and your table. Mix real and faux items if you like—the goal is a pleasing, natural arrangement.
2. That’s it. You’re done.

Real fruit works well and looks fresh, but reusable faux apples and pears are handy year after year. I keep faux fruit I bought years ago and use it for seasonal displays. Pine cones—whether plain or scented—also add texture and a natural feel.
I always keep a few wreaths around the house because they’re so useful for quick decorating. Store seasonal items in lidded baskets in accessible spots like the dining room, entryway, or family room so you can pull together a centerpiece without digging through the attic or a cold garage.
Here’s a look back to a similar centerpiece I made in September 2007.

A version of this wreath centerpiece appeared on my blog in 2007. I still have the same red glasses and I enjoy recreating simple ideas like this one—no need to overcomplicate things.
When I first shared the wreath idea I joked about talented crafters who spend hours on elaborate projects. My approach is more about speed and simplicity: place fruit in a wreath, set it on the table, and call it a centerpiece. It’s practical, pretty, and fast.

Not long after I posted my simple wreath centerpiece, I spotted a similar idea in a magazine. Whether coincidence or not, it was gratifying to see the concept in print—proof that straightforward, natural arrangements remain timeless.
I still use this approach because it works: wreaths filled with seasonal items create an attractive table accent with minimal fuss. It’s a versatile technique—adapt the contents to holidays, seasons, or any color palette you prefer.
If you missed my previous post, I also shared a free printable for holiday gatherings that pairs well with quick centerpieces like this. I’ll be sharing a gift idea and a giveaway soon, so check back for that.
Quick tips:
- Mix textures—fruit, pine cones, greenery—to keep the arrangement interesting.
- Use what you already own to save time and money.
- Store seasonal decor in labeled baskets for easy access.
With a few simple items and a wreath, you can create a polished centerpiece in minutes—perfect for everyday dining or last-minute entertaining.
