Fresh as a daisy! Aren’t these daisy sheets absolutely charming? Perfect for summer and they look delightful on my newly acquired bed.

After leaning against our living room fireplace for four weeks, the Ethan Allen Quincy bed we found on Facebook Marketplace finally made it up the stairs to our bedroom this weekend, thanks to some hired help. I’m completely in love with it.

As a kid I used to keep new shoes by my bed so I could admire them before falling asleep—did you ever do that? Now I fall asleep in a beautiful new bed and wake up happy in my daisy sheets.

This find has inspired a few unexpected updates—new bedside tables and lamps, a repaint, and some other small refreshes to make the room feel cohesive. Still, I couldn’t be happier about how everything turned out.

Some people hunt for months or years for the perfect piece; I found my dream bed on my very first search. I hadn’t planned to buy a bed right now, but it felt meant to be. Serendipity indeed—maybe I should browse more often.

You can read my first post about finding the bed in my original write-up.

Just minutes before searching Facebook Marketplace, I had been showing my husband the same bed on Ethan Allen’s site while making a mood board for our home. We both agreed the robin’s egg blue was perfect. Then I thought, why not check Marketplace? I typed “Quincy Bed Ethan Allen” and there it was—exactly the color I wanted.

However, getting it home presented several challenges. The bed was located in Canada, we didn’t have a truck, and we hadn’t turned on phone roaming. That last detail meant our maps stopped working the moment we crossed the border, and we spent a nerve-wracking while trying to navigate without GPS.

We also ran into trouble getting cash; the bank machine we found was closed. Fortunately, I had written down detailed directions to the seller’s home, so step-by-step instructions helped us find the house even without working phones.

The seller spoke limited English, so we communicated mostly through her adult daughter. We explained the ATM issue and searched for an alternative payment method. The seller didn’t want PayPal at first, but eventually agreed to set up an account so we could transfer the funds electronically.

Another setback emerged when we discovered we didn’t have the right tools to disassemble the bed. I started to worry we’d have to return empty-handed. We drove to Home Depot, bought the proper tools, and thankfully the seller trusted us to come back without selling it to someone else.

With the right tools we got the bed apart, but the headboard was very heavy. The owner kindly helped lift it down her stairs, standing on one side while I took the other and my husband steadied the far end. We’re not as young or strong as we used to be, but we managed to get it into the rented truck without incident.

Once the daughter’s PayPal was ready, I transferred the money and we were finally on our way—four hours later than planned. After a quick stop to eat, we crossed the border back into the U.S. without any problems; border agents asked a few routine questions and inspected the truck.

Would I go to that much trouble again for a Marketplace find? Maybe not often, but the Quincy bed was worth every twist and turn. If another piece calls to me the same way, I’d probably try again—though I wonder if Canadian sellers will be wary of me now!

I’m thrilled to have a bed I adore. And if you’re searching for soft, organic cotton sheets, I highly recommend the daisy sheet set I mentioned—I’ve been obsessed with Garnet Hill’s quilts and bedding options.

Have you ever found a dream piece on Facebook Marketplace? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments.
