This may already be familiar to readers who picked up the latest issue of Do It Yourself magazine, but we’re excited to share that our first column has been published.
For this column, DIY asked us to respond to decorating dilemmas from both partners in a relationship. We began by answering a question from Nicole, who was trying to persuade her husband to upgrade their living room storage. Below you’ll find our suggested approach (click the image to view it larger). The issue also includes a variety of hands-on projects — like festive bird’s nest bowls — and a curated selection of handmade gift ideas, timely as the gift season approaches. And, as a bonus, Burger appears on our page, which made us pretty happy; his face really helps tell the story.
If you have a “he said, she said” decorating question for a future column, submit it on our Facebook page under the call for entries and include your email address so we can reach you. While we can’t promise every submission will be used — the magazine’s editor selects the items for publication — it’s worth entering. Next month the column expands to two pages, so we’ll be adding more graphics, such as illustrations of the “after” result, and likely answering multiple questions. We love this sort of thing; it’s what makes our month.
Also — have you and your partner argued over a design decision for ages before finding a perfect compromise? We’d love to hear about conflicts that were resolved creatively, whether they involved clashing styles or one partner’s attachment to a well-worn La-Z-Boy. Share the situation that sparked debate and the solution that saved the day.
