I have some news at the end of this post, so don’t miss it! 🙂
Slowly but surely, I’ve been making steady progress on my home office. Recently I added a flea market rattan bookshelf that I absolutely love, and I also brought in the IKEA Alex drawer system. After organizing everything, the drawers have been a huge help.

The Alex drawers are perfect for storing small crafts, paper, art prints, and office supplies. The only issue was not knowing which drawer held what — you know the routine: you open drawer after drawer until you find the item you need. This week I finally labeled each drawer with gold and white Martha Stewart sticker labels. It was simple and made a big difference.
I’d been procrastinating, thinking I should order fancier labels, but I realized using what I already had would get the job done. Handwritten labels work just as well as custom ones, and now that task is finished. Having the drawers labeled makes the space feel more organized and functional.

My Nespresso coffee station remains in the office and I still rely on it a lot these days as I prepare for my upcoming book launch and other projects I’ll be sharing soon. Thank you for the kind comments on my post about the book and the little print shown above. I’ll be offering downloads of that print and many others — including a special art print of the book cover — so pin this post and check back for the download links.

That small deer head on the wall above the light is a bit of whimsy. My husband teases me about it — he prefers real antlers — but I love quirky animal decor. It always makes me smile and adds personality to the room.

I haven’t mentioned these lamps yet. I ordered a pair for the bedroom but accidentally picked the wrong color. Before returning them I tried them in the office, and they stayed. They’re a substantial size and I love the subtle swirl or marble pattern. They were a great find on sale.

Now for the news: I’m so excited to share that The Inspired Room was again named one of Better Homes & Gardens’ top ten decorating blogs for 2015. I’m deeply honored and grateful to everyone who nominated and supported the site. Last year you voted me Reader’s Favorite Decorating Blog at BH&G, which was an incredible surprise and a true honor — thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This announcement means voting is open again for Reader’s Favorite, and you can vote as often as you like. There are many wonderful blogs listed in the Decorating category and other categories, and it’s fun to browse and vote for the ones you enjoy.
