I have been hunting for the right barstools for my kitchen. Although our island isn’t finished with a traditional bar-height countertop, we discovered during a Better Homes & Gardens visit that it’s a comfortable and convenient spot to sit—perfect for a cup of coffee or prepping vegetables. For the photo shoot the stylist brought a yellow stool, which added a playful pop of color, but I wasn’t ready to commit to something so bold.
Then I spotted these charming white stools with wooden tops at Target and stopped in my tracks. They were exactly the style I’d been picturing—simple, farmhouse-inspired, and versatile.

I intended to buy two, but like someone who learns slowly, I took only one home to try it out first. Of course it looked great in the space, so when I returned the next morning to pick up a second, they were gone. After a quick check of the store and asking staff if more were in the back, I ordered another set online. They were available only in pairs on the website, so I now have two more stools arriving. That’s fine—extra stools are useful. I can tuck them by the dish cabinet or move the trio around the island when we need additional seating.
They’re so cute and add a fresh touch to the kitchen. While at Target I also found a metal plant stand that I brought home; it gives me a few ideas for styling the island and adding greenery.
Have you discovered any new pieces for your home lately?
