Hey friends! Today voting opens for the Dash & Albert rug design competition on Annie Selke’s Instagram. If you don’t already have an account, you can sign up and vote from your computer — just visit Annie Selke’s Instagram to participate.
Designing rugs with my girls was more challenging than we expected, but also a lot of fun. As we explored options it became clear that the rugs I love most combine a classic pattern with a modern twist. That idea guided all three of the designs we submitted.
Ten winning rugs from the Annie Selke competition will be produced and sold by Dash & Albert next year. It would be so exciting to have one of my designs chosen — a real thrill. I’d be so grateful for your vote. You can vote for any or all of my entries by visiting each design on Instagram.
Here are my three rug designs!

- Starburst – Our first design is a small-scale pattern that suits almost any room. We developed a fresh, simple motif using a repeated starburst. From a distance the pattern reads as subtle and easy on the eyes, so it pairs well with other textures and prints. Instead of a traditional fringe (or none at all), we added a small flat rope fringe for a unique finishing touch.

- Playful Pattern – The second rug is our joyful, modern take on a traditional design. I imagine it beautifully in a neutral gray and white, or in soft mint or blue, though many colorways would work. Dash & Albert offer wonderful color options, and this design adapts well to several palettes.

- Stripes + Cross – My favorite of the three is a classic striped rug with a distinctive twist: a simple cross-band trim at the ends. I’ve always loved stripes, and this subtle detail gives the design extra character. It also looks great in several color options.
Dash & Albert rugs have long been favorites of mine. I love visiting local home shops just to see their collection in person. Many styles use a soft indoor/outdoor flat weave that’s easy to maintain, and the rugs hold up beautifully over years of use. I have several Dash & Albert rugs throughout my home because they work well in any room and are very durable.
Below are some colorway ideas we explored for these designs.
If you can hop over to Annie Selke’s Instagram to vote, I’d truly appreciate your support. It would be an honor to have one of my designs produced by Dash & Albert — and you’ll enjoy viewing all the other lovely entries as well.
Thank you, sweet friends. Have a great day!
