Hey friends! Are you excited about home projects this year? I am — I have so many ideas and can’t wait to get started.
One project on our list since we moved in more than two years ago has been finishing the window coverings. I already installed woven shades in the living and dining rooms and we love them. That part was easy and turned out beautifully.
But I was indecisive about the next step: what to do for the bedroom and lower-level windows. The windows in this house are unlike any I’ve lived with before, so I took my time to find the right solution. I wanted each room to feel right individually while also creating a cohesive look for the whole house.

Because all the bedroom windows sit on the same side of the house, their appearance from the exterior mattered. This is a house where window coverings are necessary for privacy and light control, so functionality was as important as style.
While I weighed options, my son managed with a sheet over his window for two years. Yes, I admit it — a fitted blue sheet held things together for far too long. Temporary solutions would have worked, but we were waiting to make a permanent choice that fit the home’s overall look.
