Hi friends! As I mentioned last week, I’m busy with several updates around the house and planning a few projects I’m really excited about.
My favorite stage of home design — especially in a house that needed some updating — is when the major projects are mostly done and the overall mood of the rooms becomes clear. That’s when the real fun begins: focusing on refinements and little details that give each space personality.

We still have a few larger projects on the list — like our mint-and-pink bathroom — but this season feels more manageable now that some big things are finished or well underway.
As much as I love imagining a new vision for a room or planning a remodel, I think I love the gradual process of evolving and refining spaces even more. There’s something satisfying about small changes that add up to a cozier, more cohesive home.
Lately I vacillate between being content with how far the house has come — wanting to sit back and enjoy it — and getting giddy with fresh ideas I can’t wait to try. As a creative person, that balance feels like a pretty happy place.
Right now I’m doing a few updates and furniture shuffles to add character and make rooms feel more pulled together. These smaller projects are the ones that bring me the most joy.

Here’s a preview of a few happy house projects happening (or coming soon):
- I’ve made a few simple updates to our living room this summer and I love the direction so far. I added a neutral sisal rug, and it’s brought a calm, grounding feel back into the space.
- I acquired a bold piece of statement art that really energizes the room and ties everything together.
- We’ve decided to move forward with a fireplace update after discussing options. I think many of you will like the choice we made, so stay tuned for the reveal.
- This summer I’ll be painting a secondhand bookshelf to create a built-in look in the living room. It’s surprising how often you can repurpose what you already own with minimal cost to get the look you want.
- I added a compact laptop table to the living room, which has been incredibly handy for working from home.
- For the front porch I chose an oversized welcome doormat that makes a friendly first impression.
- I’ve shuffled things in my office, including moving our favorite leather sofa into that room. I also plan to add a faux fiddle leaf fig to bring in low-maintenance greenery.
- I ordered a new cabinet for the living room that I’m excited about — expect more changes around the house this summer and into the fall.
If you’re new here or catching up, you can take a house tour and see our home improvements so far, including lots of before-and-afters.
