Simple Holiday & Party Decor

Mason Jars

You’ve probably seen mason jar decor everywhere — I know I have shared this idea many times. Recently I searched “Christmas” on Pinterest and my simple Epsom salt mason jars popped up again on the front page. They’re a longtime favorite, not a fleeting trend. In fact, I first made these jars years before blogging and they keep getting repinned because they work so well.

These jars are delightfully simple and versatile. They make an excellent decoration for holidays and parties, and they’re one of the easiest decor ideas you can do. I use them frequently on my porch and along walkways for gatherings — they add a cozy, magical glow and make decorating effortless.

Because they’re so easy and dependable, it’s no wonder people keep returning to the idea. If you like low-fuss, attractive decor, these mason jars are a perfect go-to. They’re quick to assemble, pack away neatly, and can be reused for many occasions.

For a slightly dressed-up look, wrap jute or ribbon around the jar mouth and add bells, decorative brads, or other small accents. You don’t even need a detailed tutorial — the concept is that simple. Fill the jar with Epsom salt to mimic snow, place a candle or battery-operated tealight inside, and finish with whatever trim matches your theme.

I’m always glad to know others appreciate easy, beautiful solutions. When you find a method that works, stick with it and adapt it to different seasons — that’s how I build my holiday collections. This year I’ll be adding a few new variations to my mason jar lineup, but the basic idea remains the same: simple, stylish, and reusable.

Here’s a fancier holiday version I made last year. It’s the same concept with a few extra embellishments. Whether you keep them plain or add trim, mason jars with Epsom salt are a reliable way to bring festive charm to your space.

Want to fancy them up? Wrap ribbon or twine around the rim, attach jingle bells, or add small ornaments. A little detail goes a long way and keeps the project quick and approachable.

If you haven’t tried Epsom salt mason jar candles yet, pick up a few jars and a bag of Epsom salt at the grocery store. When you host a party or holiday gathering, these jars can be assembled quickly and will give your home a warm, festive feel. They’re one of those simple touches that consistently impress guests without a lot of work.
