The countdown to the holidays is on. With Thanksgiving next week and Christmas just a few weeks away, we’ve been getting our home ready for hosting and celebrating the season — with help from Wayfair. Preparing early has made everything feel calmer and more enjoyable.

From baking treats to setting the table and picking out gifts, Wayfair has everything we need to celebrate. Their selection makes it easy to refresh our home for the season, whether it’s new serving pieces, cozy lighting, or festive mugs.
This past week my daughter Courtney and I put on jazzy music and spent a blustery day doing pre-holiday prep. We:
- lit candles to create a cozier mood — it was so dark outside that candles were a must
- did a bit of early Christmas decorating (starting early really helps, it takes longer than you think)
- gathered our favorite holiday dessert plates and appetizer dishes and put them together in one easy-to-find spot for hosting
- baked a Christmas Gingerbread Loaf in a white scalloped loaf pan — it was a new recipe for me and a hit
- refreshed our kitchen shelves with a seasonal mix of classic green and white plates and platters to be ready for serving
- enjoyed coffee in festive mugs while we worked
- taste-tested the Gingerbread Loaf (10/10 recommend)

Making a day of it was fun — we accomplished a lot and enjoyed the time together. I’ll be scheduling another prep day soon to finish up the remaining tasks and finalize decorations.
