Today I’m excited to share the newest additions to our coastal cottage living room.
When we moved into this home four years ago it was already furnished, which made it easy to downsize comfortably and postpone furniture decisions until the right time.
Because this room is small but important, we didn’t want to rush the process.

Little by little, season by season, we used pieces we already owned to make the room cozy while updating backdrops like the flooring and renovating adjacent spaces such as the kitchen.
This year we reached a much-anticipated chapter: refreshing the furniture. We chose pieces from Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma and have included product references throughout this post.

It’s not our first time investing in Williams-Sonoma family brands, and their pieces have consistently been favorites in our homes. Over the years we’ve owned several living room sofas from their collections and they’ve held up beautifully through daily use and moves.
Some of those sofas were passed along to family when we downsized—one went to my daughter and another to my mom’s Tiny Cottage.

When it was time to refresh this space, we returned to what we know and love: a Williams-Sonoma Home loveseat, paired with Pottery Barn wingback chairs and ottomans in classic stripe and chambray performance fabrics.
This room functions like a small keeping room tucked beside the fireplace and close to the kitchen and dining nook. It’s a snug spot for conversation before or after dinner, curling up by the fire, sipping morning coffee, or getting lost in a book.
My priorities for these new pieces were clear: nothing too oversized, but still inviting and comfortable; durable, non-toxic fabrics that stand up to pets, children, and everyday life.

After research and consideration, I chose a striped performance fabric for the loveseat and patterned wingback chairs from Pottery Barn. The wingback silhouette provides height and presence without overwhelming the space, and its enveloping feel is perfect for this cozy corner.
I had a similar pair of wingbacks years ago and regretted selling them—these feel like a welcome return.

Although we started fresh with furniture, I wanted the room to feel classic and collected. I deliberately selected timeless pieces in coordinating, not matching, fabrics and introduced gentle patterns rather than relying only on solids.

A mix of textures and tones, several versatile ottomans for propping feet or providing extra seats, and a durable wool rug in a warm bronze pattern came together to create a warm, personal, and highly livable space.
I paired new Pottery Barn accessories with treasured finds: an antique bamboo cart from my mom, a marble-topped vintage washstand discovered locally, and artwork with personal meaning.

I’m thrilled to have these new pieces in the room; it feels cozy and welcoming for our family. The space has come together piece by piece, and like my favorite rooms, it will continue to evolve with small tweaks and seasonal updates.

A true sanctuary is never finished; it should reflect the people who live there. This room will continue to tell the story of our lives as we add small details over time.
I’ll share more about furniture and accessory choices and updates to this ever-evolving room soon. I’m grateful to Pottery Barn for partnering with me and gifting a few favorite pieces and accessories.
