My office in my last home
Right now the house feels a little disorganized, as if I’m moving in all over again. It’s not that extreme, thankfully, but we’ve been hauling furniture and boxes down to the basement and creating a bit of chaos. Those moving flashbacks are real.

The disruption is for a good reason. Aside from getting the kitchen ready for a remodel, I decided to swap the locations of my office and the guest room. Repurposing those rooms is what started the recent upheaval. Sometimes you need to create a little mess first to reorganize a home more efficiently.
The new office will suit my needs much better, and the switch will give us a proper guest room, so overall it should be a win. I’ll share design plans and updates on progress soon.
My guest room in my last home
I’m focused on making the house function as efficiently as possible. Progress has felt slow at times, but I expect our design updates and remodeling to move faster than in any previous home because we’re determined to get settled and organized quickly.
It will feel wonderful to be more on top of things here. What I miss most about my old home is that settled, organized feeling, and I’m determined to recreate it.
Seeing the finished space in my mind—or on an inspiration board—keeps me motivated to work through the mess. I also admit I enjoy imagining all the clever organizers I’ll use to corral everything in each room.
Happy Friday!
