Spring Decorating
Last week I decided my family room mantel needed a little spring refresh.
To welcome the season I added fresh spring plants and a moss wreath. A touch of green is perfect for that first hint of spring. I know realistically these plants may not last the whole season, but I’ll enjoy their presence on the mantel while they do. And I’ll try not to forget to water them.
As for the moss wreath, I admit I could have made one myself, but I didn’t. This one was affordable, exactly what I wanted, and already finished—no glue gun or sticky fingers required. Sold.
I love decorating and sometimes I enjoy crafting, but more often I like the look of pretty pieces without the hassle of making them. I prefer shopping for beautiful items rather than wrestling with glue, burns, or projects that end up in the trash. I’m not a DIY diva, and I’m perfectly fine with that.
Changing the subject: do you ever buy orchids at Trader Joe’s? They’re always lovely.
The mantel still needed a little finishing touch, so I reused some plastic craft eggs from last year’s display and placed a few on the mantel. They add a soft hint of yellow, which I love.
The egg-branch arrangement from last year is simple and sweet. That’s my kind of DIY—no glue guns, no burns, and you can’t kill a plastic egg.
These tiny blooms from the plant on the mantel were so delicate I had to bring them home.
I think they might be winter roses, but I can’t quite remember what the gardener called them. For now, they’re simply pretty.
Come on, Spring. My mantel is ready for you.
I love strolling through charming garden shops. Even though I often fail at keeping plants alive, wandering along crushed gravel paths and admiring pretty greenery feels therapeutic.
