Spring and Summer Style

Do the seasons outside shape how you decorate inside? Beyond switching out seasonal accents like spring flowers or autumn branches, some people actually let the time of year influence their furniture choices and color palette. You might prefer lighter, airier colors and fabrics in the warmer months, or richer, cozier textures when the days grow shorter.

My own tastes shift slightly with the seasons. In spring I’m drawn to fresher hues and lighter materials, while in fall I favor deeper tones and layered textures. That said, I enjoy a home that can flow from one season to the next, so I often choose pieces and colors that adapt easily throughout the year.

Sometimes a home naturally leans toward one seasonal style based on location, architecture, or the homeowners’ preferences.

What season best describes your home? Does your interior feel like summer, spring, winter, or fall? All seasons offer beautiful options for decorating, and none are off limits. Each brings a different mood: fall and winter often inspire cozy, intimate spaces, while spring and summer encourage bright, airy rooms that feel fresh and alive.

People choose seasonal styles for many reasons. Sometimes it’s simply a preference for specific colors that feel seasonal. Other times the climate where you live, the style of your home, existing furnishings, or how the seasons affect your mood will nudge you toward one look or another.

Are you an indoor person who gravitates toward warm, cozy interiors? Or an outdoor person who prefers breezy, light-filled rooms? Maybe you love winter sports and rustic textures, or you’re a beach-lover drawn to coastal hues. If you live in a temperate climate, like I do, you might enjoy blending seasonal elements so your home is comfortable and inviting year-round.

There’s no single correct seasonal style for a home. The best approach is the one that makes you feel happy and at ease in your space, whatever season it reflects.

Which season does your home reflect most? Do you change your preferences with the seasons?
Every spring I find myself admiring fresh, summery rooms and the light, uplifting colors they use.
