AWhile I will always adore everything cozy about fall, I often find myself drawn to a cheerful, youthful, and fresh style—especially in summer. That lighter, more playful aesthetic suits this house beautifully. In the Pacific Northwest, summer and fall blend together gracefully, so the two seasons don’t have to feel like design opposites.

Sometimes my thoughts seem perfectly clear until I try to put them into words. Even so, the home designed by Bria Hammel Interiors is so inspiring I wanted to share it. Her work is thoughtful and effortless—rooms that feel both lively and comfortable.
Bria’s use of color and layered patterns creates a fresh, fun atmosphere without feeling fussy. The palette and textiles bring energy while maintaining a cohesive, livable look.

You’ll find more of Bria’s portfolio on her blog and website—countless beautiful rooms full of thoughtful detailing and architecture. Each space has small, considered moments that make it feel special.

I love the mood of this room. The darker accent—whether black or deep navy—grounds the space and adds warmth, helping the lighter elements feel cozy rather than airy.

That wallpaper is pure delight—so cheerful it practically radiates joy. Pattern like this can instantly lift the mood of a room and make it feel welcoming.

The Dutch door is a favorite detail, and the playful tile greeting on the floor adds personality and warmth the moment you walk in. I also love the small cubby by the entry—such a practical, charming touch.

With the exterior updates I planned mostly finished for the year, my focus is turning back to interiors. That said, I’ll still be enjoying and sharing time on our deck and side patio this summer. The outdoors are not going anywhere, and I’m in no rush to skip the season.
Even while relaxing outside, I find myself dreaming about the inside. After ordering a new couch, I’ve been collecting ideas and imagining how the updated seating will inspire more rearranging and refreshing. It’s fun to plan ahead and gather inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram while waiting for the next project to come together.
I can’t help it—design is such a joy for me.
Who’s even a little bit excited for fall?
