This year I styled our Christmas mantel using florals and evergreens I already had on hand. I layered a couple types of faux florals with a juniper garland, scattered pinecones, and the soft glow of flameless votive candles. The result is a simple, pretty winter display that feels festive without being fussy.

I love how the textures work together: the fresh green of the garland beside delicate blooms, the natural touch of pinecones, and the warm candlelight. It’s welcoming for the entire season and easy to update or tweak.
If you want to recreate this look, I’ve listed my sources and similar options throughout the post.

There was no elaborate plan or special technique—nothing is wired or tied down. Everything simply rests on the mantel, and it’s stayed put for weeks.
To begin, I draped a juniper garland along the mantel, allowing a few sprigs to hang over the edge for a relaxed look.
Next I tucked in faux dusty green hydrangea stems and a few blue silk mums that I had used in other displays. Tucking the flowers into and beneath the garland hides the stems and adds soft color accents.
I then scattered medium and large pinecones for natural texture and finished with flameless votive candles set on a timer so they glow automatically each evening. If you prefer, candles with a remote are an easy alternative.

Here are the items I used or similar options to consider:
- Blue silk mums
- Faux dusty green hydrangea stems
- Juniper garland (I used one from a previous year; similar garlands and juniper stems work well)
- Magnolia branches for added fullness (faux magnolia looks great with coastal cottage styling)
- Extra pine branches for texture
- Flameless votive candles with timer for safe, automatic evening ambiance
- Pinecones gathered outdoors or purchased in medium and large sizes
