HHello, fall-loving friends! Welcome — I’m so happy you stopped by. I’m thrilled to be part of the Finding Fall Home Tour this week with twenty bloggers sharing their autumn homes. If you’re arriving from Laura’s blog, Finding Home, welcome and thanks to Laura for hosting.
If you were standing at my door right now, I’d swing it open and greet you with a hug — and two enthusiastic dogs would try to greet you too. Our Labradoodle Lily would be on the stairs (muddy paws and all) and then at the door, eager for kisses. Jack, our Goldendoodle, would barrel around the corner, excited and skidding across the wood floors. It’s a little chaotic, but it’s all part of the charm.
After we get past the excitement and fur, you’d be able to step inside and settle in. So, welcome.

Everything about fall makes me happy. We live near Seattle on a peninsula in the Puget Sound, and while winter can bring gray rainy days, autumn here is absolutely lovely. September and October are often mild and pleasant — perfect for bringing out umbrellas for fun and enjoying crisp mornings. Autumn is my favorite season.
The rainy gray days are also a good excuse to nest and snuggle indoors, so I welcome those now and then.

I’m not overly crafty, so my fall decorating tends to be simple and subtle. I focus on making the house feel cozier: adding blankets, pillows, rugs, candles, textured layers, seasonal plants, and even swapping in different books. Small shifts gradually change the mood until the rooms feel warmer and more inviting.

Transitioning from summer to fall doesn’t require much, but I savor every detail and add more layers as the season continues. I even clip branches from our yard for the mantel — I love the simplicity and natural texture they bring.

Soon I’ll be lighting the fire and spending cool evenings curled up by the hearth with coffee. Fall, for me, is about comfort and making home a sanctuary from the busy world.

My daughters and I enjoy setting the table and lighting candles — candles are one of my favorite seasonal touches from fall through spring.

I don’t stick strictly to “fall colors,” but I love introducing small amounts of reds, oranges, and greens. Those tones feel cozy and festive against our neutral palette, which makes it easy to layer seasonal accents that work with the rest of the house.

Fall also motivates me to cook and bake more. I love the house filled with the smell of fresh pumpkin cookies and other seasonal treats.

With the new school year in full swing, our household routines return and the command center in the hallway helps us keep track of papers and schedules. A bit of organization is part of the nesting rhythm for this time of year.

I love creating a cozy nest in the bedroom with extra pillows, blankets, and a fluffy comforter. Of course, our dogs think the bed belongs to them — their sweet faces make it hard to keep them off.

On Instagram I was asked where I store regular bed pillows when I make the bed. I use a lidded basket to keep them clean and off the floor; decorative pillows either return to the basket or are stacked on the settee. It’s a simple and tidy system.

Our coziest fall hangout is the upstairs TV/media room. It’s the only room with a television, and the sectional makes it warm and comfortable on cooler nights. We don’t watch much TV, but family movie nights are a nice weekly routine.
Thanks for stopping by to see what fall nesting looks like in our home. I’ll be sharing more during my 21 Days of Loving Fall series, so I hope you’ll stay inspired throughout the season.
