Hey friends! I hope you had a lovely Easter. We attended church as a family and then hosted an Easter brunch with the kids and, of course, our dogs.
With all the doodles around, it was a lively, happy gathering.

Getting all the dogs into a single photo is always a challenge, but we found a way that worked well enough.
The pups can look almost as big as the kids in pictures, though in reality they range from about 30 to 45 pounds.
You can spot Lily being held by Courtney on the left — Courtney is petite and Lily looked ready to wiggle free.
If you’d like to see more of our doodles, we share photos on their Instagram and Facebook pages.

This year we kept the table decor simple. My vase was a HomeGoods find and I filled it with velvet flowers that added a fresh spring feel.

It was a relaxed day aside from the occasional dog commotion.

I tried to settle in and chat, but wrangling dogs made that tricky.

Mostly, the dogs wanted to be the center of attention.

To simplify food prep, we ordered a gluten-free vegan quiche from a local cafe and baked it at home. It was delicious, though a bit pricey. The crust was surprisingly good.
I’m still learning to navigate a fully gluten-free, plant-based diet and would welcome any recommended recipes for a reliable gluten-free, vegan crust.

Kylee prepared a vibrant salad of kale, arugula, radish, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red onion, avocado, basil, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. Her dressing combined olive oil, lemon, white wine vinegar, salt, Dijon mustard, and maple syrup — absolutely delicious.
She consistently creates tasty plant-based meals, and often shares what she’s making on Instagram stories.

For dessert, Courtney made a maple-sweetened strawberry rhubarb crisp that was gluten-free and vegan. We served it with vanilla bean non-dairy coconut milk ice cream — it was incredible and likely to become a new tradition.

After brunch, the kids and Jack enjoyed a game of Dixit. It was sweet to watch them play together.
