Y Remodeling takes time, and I’ve said that before. Today, though, I have an update on a project that’s actually finished. I’ll still do an official reveal on a sunny day where I’ll style the hallway, hang art, and photograph all the before-and-after shots, but since you’ve been so patient, here’s a little preview of one of the first completed spaces.
We finally have the Dutch door I dreamed about for so long. It’s installed as our front door and it’s absolutely lovely. I can’t wait to share the full reveal, but for now enjoy a peek.

This hallway has been transformed and I love the new look. We also updated the lighting with gooseneck-style fixtures from Barnlight Electric, which complement the updated entry beautifully.
There’s also a Dutch door in the kitchen—so cute—and I’ll save that reveal for when the kitchen is complete so you can see it in context. For now, one finished front door is a thrilling milestone.
We’re at the “punch list” stage, which is when the remaining details are addressed. A punch list typically includes final installations, touch-ups, and small fixes. For us, that means waiting on custom round window trim, finalizing archway details, and completing the door thresholds. There are also the usual small items like aligning latches, securing outlets, and a few paint and caulking touch-ups.
When working with contractors, timing depends on their schedules and other projects, so finishing those last items can take a little while. Today I had an electrician, a painter, and two contractors here, so the house felt busy—but we’re very close to the finish line.

Hallway and door details:
- Door color: Ozark Shadows by Benjamin Moore.
- Hallway paint: Swan White by Glidden. (Other white walls in the house are Simply White by Benjamin Moore; we may paint this hallway to match eventually.)
- Door hardware: knob by Baldwin and latch by Deltana.
- If you missed the hallway’s progress and before photos, check the prior makeover post for more context.
Hope you enjoyed this little peek at the front Dutch door!
PS. I planned to share a personal story today about why creating a healthy, chemical-free home matters to me. I ended up sharing more than I expected and need a bit more time to finish that post; I’ll link it when it’s ready.
