Alexandra Angle Interior Design
via House Beautiful, November 2017
We all want our house to feel like home. At this time of year that desire often feels stronger — we want a place that invites comfort, warmth, and a sense of belonging. As we settle in for the season and prepare for the holidays, we’re shaping not just a space but an experience. The atmosphere we create helps make the life we want to live feel possible.
If you visit here often, you know I believe home and life are closely connected. A home can inspire us, and in turn it can be shaped by who we are. The room pictured above, from House Beautiful and designed by Alexandra Angle, captures a mood that seems perfectly suited to the people who live there. It feels like a place where its owners truly belong — and it’s easy to imagine sinking into that atmosphere and feeling right at home.
When a home reflects our heart, our family, and the life we lead, it naturally feels inviting. Thoughtful design tells a story about who we are, and it can also help guide how our story unfolds. Choosing colors, textures, and layouts that resonate with you creates moments of comfort and connection every day.

I’ve explored these ideas before, and in my book Love the Home You Have I wrote about making intentional choices that reflect your life. Today I’d love to hear your perspective. Let’s talk about how design and daily life intersect.
Do you think about the life you want to live as you design your home?
Is creating a sense of belonging part of your design process?
Have you started planning for the holidays? What mood or experience are you hoping to create this season?
PS. I’m really excited for the holidays and all the cozy inspiration ahead. Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing plenty of ideas.
