Create Your Home Vision & Purpose: Printable Worksheets for Planning

Home Goals Worksheet - from the New York Times Best Selling book Love the Home You Have by The Inspired Room

Many of us set personal goals at the start of a new year, but how often do we set goals for our homes? I make a habit of it. Each year I consider how our home can better support our life—what matters most to our family, which projects or budgets will move us toward those priorities, and which improvements protect our house as both a structure and a place that nurtures our family’s well-being.

To simplify the process I share a Home Goals worksheet to help you clarify and prioritize. Project lists can quickly feel overwhelming, so a concise goal sheet helps me focus on what will make the biggest difference. Keep it in a planner or notebook and refer to it through the year to track progress and stay aligned with your intentions.

Creating a Home on Purpose - Love the Home You Have

One valuable first step is to define the main purposes of your home. When you identify what you want your home to help you accomplish—whether it’s a place for rest, a safe environment to raise children, a welcoming space for gatherings, a spot to pursue hobbies or run a small business, or a sanctuary from daily stress—planning specific goals becomes far easier.

Designing your home with purpose keeps you grounded and helps you feel content where you are. If you’d like more guidance on finding contentment and making thoughtful choices about your space, I explore this in my book Love the Home You Have.
