A home should be a sacred space — a place where we feel our best, safe and sheltered, able to care for ourselves and the people we love.
When we turn the key, the goal is to feel welcomed and at ease. Creating a nurturing atmosphere begins with paying attention to what inspires comfort and well-being.

We are the gatekeepers of our homes. We decide, in many ways, what crosses the threshold and what stays outside.
This responsibility is powerful and generous — a gift we give ourselves and those we live with.
Caring for our dwellings, both home and body, matters. Small, intentional choices shape how we feel day to day.
We can’t control every external influence, but there are always simple steps we can take to improve our environment and our mood. That idea is at the heart of Dwelling: the gentle, practical changes that help us feel better in our homes.

A home is more than a structure that holds our belongings or shelters us from the weather. It’s where life unfolds — conversations, celebrations, and the everyday moments that become memories worth holding sacred.
A thoughtfully designed home becomes the atmosphere where a family grows and where love is nurtured. Intentionally creating a space that supports the life you want to live is essential to well-being.
Melissa Michaels, Dwelling (2019)
The choices we make for our living spaces affect our health, our emotions, and often ripple outward to impact the people around us.
Tuesday my brand new book, Dwelling, will arrive in homes around the country (and perhaps the world!). Will it arrive in yours? I hope so!
Book launches are a vulnerable moment — opening your door and heart and inviting others in can make you nervous. I understand that feeling.

Learning to care for our dwellings — both the physical home and our bodies — is a personal journey. Your version of a nurturing home may look different from mine, and that’s okay. I don’t claim to have every answer.
Still, I hope that as you read this book, you’ll find practical ideas and encouragement. Small improvements, shared stories, and friendly conversation can help us all feel better about our homes and our lives.
This is my greatest hope.

As Dwelling reaches new readers, I hope it opens doors, sparks conversation, and builds connections so we can learn from one another and grow together.
Would you share your story with me and other HomeBodies? I’d love to hear how the book affects your life.
If the ideas in Dwelling resonate, please consider sharing them with friends and leaving a review. Honest feedback helps others discover the book.
You’re welcome to use quotes and images for sharing. When posting on Instagram, use the hashtags #dwellingbook and #feelwellwhereyoudwell and tag @theinspiredroom so I can find your posts. I also welcome messages — I love connecting with readers.
As we meet along this journey and support one another, I believe lasting friendships will grow.
