Cottage-Style Bathroom Ideas and Blog Makeover Reveal

cottage bathroom

We recently gave our tiny powder room a small refresh—really small. No major demolition, no new fixtures, just paint and a few accessories. This wasn’t the typical big blogger overhaul with power tools and full renovation budgets. I had once imagined replacing the tile and installing a pedestal sink, but that plan had to wait. It still has to wait.

So, no new sink for now.

No new faucet either.

No new light fixtures—at least not yet.

And no wood ceiling, at least not this time.

I waited years to get the kitchen I wanted; I can be patient until the bathrooms are ready for bigger changes.

In the meantime, I made the most of what we have. A fresh coat of paint and a few thoughtfully chosen accessories transformed the room into a bright, cottage-inspired space that feels welcoming for guests. You don’t always need to rip everything out to get a noticeable update; small, deliberate changes can make a big difference.

Paint and accessories are powerful and affordable ways to refresh a bathroom, especially when you hunt for treasures at thrift stores or flea markets. I’ve found some delightful pieces recently that added charm without a big expense.

I’ll share the full powder room update, including before-and-after photos of the two makeovers we’ve done while living here, once my new bathroom rug arrives later this week.

I truly adore a charming bathroom.

PS. You might notice some changes on the blog if you visit directly (not by email). We’re updating the site design and navigation, so some pages may look different, fonts might shift, or layout elements could seem out of place while we tidy things up. We’re working to make the site easier to use and more visually pleasing for spring. I’ll post guidance soon on where to find popular content and how to navigate the updated layout.
