It’s important to me that our home feels cozy and inviting and reflects the personalities of the people who live here. One way I express that is by introducing small, unexpected touches into seasonal decor. I’ve always loved quirky animals in decor, so when I found a brass fox and a brass bunny I couldn’t resist bringing them home.
These little figures have appeared in several of our homes over the years, and they feel right at home here too. I love them at the holidays, but they also work year-round. Their small bowls are perfect for rotating seasonal displays — Easter eggs or spring flowers in spring, candles and greenery in summer, seashells in warmer months, and pine cones, bells, or ornaments in winter. They’re versatile enough to move from the mantel to shelves and even act as bookends, which is why I appreciate flexible decor that can adapt with the seasons.

This is the current mantel arrangement as of Thanksgiving weekend: a touch of greenery, a few candles, a wood bead strand, some pinecones, a bell, and a little sparkle nestled in the bowls of the bunny and fox. It’s a simple setup that evolves over time. In the coming days I may add a wreath to the mirror and a garland across the mantel, perhaps draping the wood beads along with it. Even if I leave things as they are, the small display already feels festive and cozy.

I enjoy letting decor develop slowly through the seasons. It gives you the freedom to add pieces when you’re inspired and to remove or simplify when something feels too busy. Decorating doesn’t have to be all or nothing — small changes can refresh a space and keep it feeling authentic. When your home reflects your style and evolves with you, it becomes a place where you can relax, feel cozy, and be yourself.
