Christmas Home Tours 2011: Inspiration from The Inspired Room

Christmas Open House!

I love imagining homes around the world, cozy and decorated for the holidays. While most of us are too far apart to visit in person, we can still tour each other’s spaces virtually through online events commonly called “linky parties.”

Jack was banned from helping with the Thanksgiving meal preparations.

You’re invited to a virtual Christmas open house the week of December 12th! Come by for cookies, take a look around, and share your own holiday decorations if you’d like.

Participation is simple: visit other homes to gather ideas or link up your own photos. You don’t need a blog — link to a public Facebook album, Flickr set, or any publicly viewable gallery. Once your link is added, everyone else can visit and enjoy your holiday decor. It’s a fun way to connect and get inspired without leaving home.

“Please don’t shut me out of a party ever again, Mom. Makes me sad.”

You don’t need to be finished decorating by December 12th. Link what you’ve completed so far or add new photos any time that week. Setting December 12th as our goal gives us about two weeks before Christmas — a helpful push to get things moving for many of us.

There will likely be two link-ups that day: one for Christmas home tours and another for DIY Christmas projects. Feel free to join either or both.

I’ve already started decorating a little — have you? I’ll begin sharing my progress this week.

I can’t wait to visit everyone during the Christmas Home Tours. See you on December 12th!

If you have questions about the party, leave a comment. There will be many similar parties around blogland in December, and you can join as many as you like. I’ll try to post a list of parties I know about soon.

During The Inspired Room Christmas Home Tours, I’ll also be looking for rooms to feature in a new Christmas category for Room Tours and DIY, so linking up helps me find your ideas. You can also submit directly via the Room Tours and DIY pages.
