As if this morning’s pie charts weren’t enough, we’re back with another numerical roundup. Every year we like to share what Young House Love looks like by the numbers: some stats are surprising, some are serious, some are just for fun. We’ve kept a few figures from last year for comparison, and you can also revisit previous year-by-the-numbers posts from 2010, 2009, and 2008 to see how things have changed.
2,014 – Total published posts to date on Young House Love. (Last year: 1,527)
16 – Published posts on Young House Life.
570,314 – Total comments from readers. That’s more than double last year’s 258,904, meaning the past 12 months saw more commenting activity than our first three years combined.
38,754 – Comment replies we’ve posted, more than triple last year’s total of 13,039.
9 – Months we’ve lived in our new house.
21.5 – Clara’s current weight in pounds (up from 14 lbs last year). Tall and skinny—think string bean.
8.5 – Burger’s weight in pounds (up from 8 lbs last year).
210,460 – Most blog hits in a single day, according to WordPress.com stats—the day our Washington Post feature ran. (Last year’s top day: 97,024.)
4,048,011 – Blog hits received last month. Insane growth compared with last year’s 2,144,976.
68,164,565 – Total blog hits to date, nearly double last year’s 36,698,957.
4 – Times we’ve driven by our old house to check on it (including once after Hurricane Irene—it was fine).
1 – Time we accidentally turned down our old street when intending to go to the new house. Considering it’s only a mile away, we’re kind of proud it happened just once.
150 – Mood boards featured in our Mood Board Gallery.
146 – Weekly giveaways held since we started them in November 2008, after readers requested them during our first blogiversary.
35 – Average number of posts per month.
3 – Soda-themed shirts John owns (he does have non-soda shirts too, despite what photos might suggest).
12 – Clara’s current catalog of animal sounds: cow, horse, sheep, goat, cat, dog, owl, chicken, lion, duck, monkey (“ooh-ooh-ahh-ahh”), and a sloth impression where she says “slowly slowly” and slinks around.
2,405 – Average number of words written per post—turns out we’re pretty chatty.
19,204 – Average number of words written per week. Yes, that’s a lot.
648 – Projects linked on our Projects page. We still have about 50 more to add when we get through the to-do list.
58 – Photos of Clara taken for her photo project: 52 weekly shots, 5 monthly, and 1 birthday photo.
230,652 – Pinterest followers. This number still feels unreal.
22 – Steps from our bed to our desk in the new house. In the old house it was just 7, so we no longer risk posting in our sleep.
6:30 – Tonight’s time for our local panel discussion, “Hobby to Business: Making a Living Doing What You Love.” A fitting event for blogiversary week. We’re volunteering our time because it sounded fun, not for pay.
