Seriously, I just can’t even.
Autumn brings a host of family traditions for us, and one of the most lighthearted has stuck around since our children were small. We’ve always enjoyed dressing up our dog in silly outfits — my girls even nicknamed him “Fashion Hound.” There’s something about a dog in costume that instantly lifts the mood and makes the season feel even cozier.
Every Halloween we find costumes for our pups. They may look a little embarrassed, but they’re good sports, and the payoff is priceless: big laughs and warm memories. When the kids were younger we would take the dogs with us as we walked the neighborhood, sharing smiles and a little festive cheer. Neighbors always enjoyed it, and it became part of what made our fall celebrations special.
This year Bella, Jack and Lily’s cousin, takes the prize for best costume. With everything going on in life, it’s nice to pause and enjoy a silly moment. Laughter like this reminds us not to take everything so seriously and to celebrate the small joys of the season. Wishing you a happy November filled with fun and a few lighthearted traditions of your own.
