Fall Nesting: 20 Small Joys to Love About Autumn

If you’ve followed TIR for a while, you know I’ve always described Fall Nesting as a mindset.

It’s a chance to gently evolve our homes and daily rituals.

Fall Nesting invites us to create a home at a pace that feels both comfortable and inspiring.

We don’t rush through it or worry about the next season. Instead, we focus on being present so we can truly enjoy the season we’re in.

Fall Nesting is about paying attention to how our home feels every day, not just how quickly or perfectly it’s decorated.

It’s about refusing to feel rushed, pressured, or inadequate in comparison to anyone else.

Just as the seasons change slowly outside, the seasonal changes in our home should unfold naturally.

Even if you don’t have an autumn season where you live—or it’s still very warm—use your imagination to ready your mind for this season at home.

Picture crisp air drifting through an open window and cool evening breezes moving through the trees.

Imagine leaves changing color and the satisfying crunch underfoot as they fall.

Fall Nesting doesn’t depend on what’s outside your door; it’s about what you want to feel inside your home.

Take a deep breath. We have time.

With Fall Nesting, we slow down and leave the frantic pace and expectations of the wider world outside our door.

When we cross our threshold, what matters most is what comforts and inspires us and our family.

Fall Nesting is about savoring the season and falling more in love with our home a little more each day.
