One lesson I’ve learned as a homemaker is that small, consistent actions add up to the larger home and family life we dream about. Finding joy and contentment where we are, with what we already own, is often enough.
If you’re new here, I published a book called Love The Home You Have in March 2015. The book centers on cultivating contentment and focuses on simple, practical steps you can take at home to shift your perspective and find joy in the life and space you already have.
It’s how you look at what you have and what you do with it every single day that changes everything.
At the back of Love The Home You Have is a 31 Day Love Your Home Challenge—31 small decor projects, motivating tasks, and targeted cleaning sessions designed to make caring for your home feel achievable and uplifting. These short, focused activities give your day direction and help you create a more pleasant, intentional space.
Home-making often looks effortless and perfectly styled on social media, but real life shows the whole picture, warts and all. After a long winter, many of us are ready for fresh air and a little home refresh. A few simple updates can bring energy and light back into our daily routines.
To motivate myself and to encourage you, I’ll be hosting two spring challenges here at The Inspired Room to help us welcome the season with renewed enthusiasm.

First: will you join the 31 Day Love Your Home Challenge starting this week?
Beginning this weekend, every Sunday I will post the week’s challenges here on the blog. These are drawn from the 31 Love Your Home ideas in the back of Love The Home You Have. You can follow along with the book for extra guidance, but the challenges stand alone too. Even if you’ve tried some before, they’re worth repeating or taking up a notch.
Each Sunday’s blog post will list seven simple ways to love your home during the coming week, with little pep talks and encouragement to keep you motivated. Do as many as you like—one, a few, or all seven—it’s up to you!
I’ll also share each day’s challenge on Instagram if you’d like to follow along there (@theinspiredroom).
If you want extra motivation or a fun way to connect with others, share your progress on your blog, on Home Love Stories, or on Instagram. Tag your posts with #loveyourhomechallenge so I can find your photos and celebrate with you. Whether you share or simply join in quietly, I’d love to hear how it’s going.
To keep our momentum, I’ll introduce a brand new challenge later in April so we can continue showing love to the homes we have. It promises to be inspiring and enjoyable.
