15 Small Life Updates and My Home Style Saturday Picks

HHello, friends! Happy Saturday — I hope you’re doing well. Here are a few things that have been happening at our house lately:

  • I’ve spent a lot of cozy hours curled up by the fireplace working on an upcoming book.
  • I shared my daily coffee ritual on my Instagram stories and enjoyed the little ritual of brewing each morning.
  • Even though our outings are limited, FaceTime, Marco Polo, and Zoom have kept us connected. We celebrated my nephew Evan’s twentieth birthday over Zoom — hard to believe my son will be twenty soon too!
  • I hosted a virtual craft night with my Dwell Well Collective wellness group, where we made a soft scrub and spring diffuser bombs. If you join my wellness group this month there are some fun freebies available. Details are on my site.
  • Watching the peonies in the garden bloom has brought a small, daily dose of joy.
  • I baked delicious chocolate chip cookies using a one-bowl vegan recipe and swapped in gluten-free flour for ours.
  • I ordered an oversized blue glass lamp for the living room that I love, and a small wooden stool that’s become useful around the house.
  • I flipped through a book that inspired ideas for creating cut flower gardens, and I’ve been dreaming of planting one soon.
  • I washed the slipcover on my white sofa — it’s held up well and there’s an FAQ on the sofa’s care if you’re curious.
  • I browsed through my favorite decorating book for inspiration and imagined new possibilities for the home.
  • I did a little online window shopping and picked up a couple of cute spring tops during a sale; I also enjoyed browsing home décor items available this weekend.
  • Courtney and I updated our “shop my house” page with sources and similar decor finds that readers have asked about.
  • We’ve been ordering groceries and household items for delivery — Whole Foods/Amazon, Instacart, and a customized monthly wellness box save us time and make life easier right now.
  • There was a brief crisis when we ran out of Oatly oat milk for our daily coffee, but the shipment arrived the next day and peace was restored to our coffee routine.
  • Courtney gifted me adorable floral spring shoes for Mother’s Day and I’m excited to wear them soon.

This holiday weekend I’m staying home and planning to do some online shopping — there are many great sales at favorite shops right now. I’ll be browsing stores like Serena & Lily, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, Target, World Market and a few others, and I’ll share anything great I find.

How are things where you are? Life looks different in every place right now, and I’d love to hear what’s new with you.
