We enjoyed a cozy family celebration for my daughter Kylee’s birthday this weekend. I love simple gatherings — they feel intimate and meaningful, and they’re my favorite kind of celebration. I also enjoy making even last-minute get-togethers feel special with a few thoughtful touches.
I always keep a few faux flower stems and greenery on hand for occasions like this and for those in-between seasons. Faux stems are perfect for spring: they store easily, don’t require last-minute shopping, and let you decorate quickly without extra cost. Being prepared with a few artificial stems means you can invite people over on short notice and still create a festive atmosphere.
Although our yard has many plants we could cut when everything is in full bloom, right now things are just starting. I combined what we had at home with a few faux stems to create simple party arrangements. Mixing real and faux flowers is an easy way to maximize visual impact while stretching what’s available.
The quality of faux flowers has really improved — many look incredibly realistic and elegant. Real blooms will always be my first choice, but they can be expensive and short-lived. Investing in a few well-made artificial stems often pays off because they can be reused season after season. They’re an investment that keeps giving.
I’m already planning to add more to my collection. Below are some of the beautiful faux blooms I used and loved.
