For the past few years I set aside January to make small, meaningful updates to our bedroom. This year, inspired by my motto “a place for everything and everything in its place,” I focused on both beautifying and organizing the room. When I found a charming wicker trunk at Wayfair, it felt like the perfect solution to a persistent storage problem we’ve had.
Today I’ll share why this basket solved our issue so well and how I’ve used it to keep the bedroom tidy and functional.
I love organizing with baskets and have added several attractive ones to our home. Below are a few favorites I’ll profile in a future post.
Our bedroom is modest in size and storage, so I needed creative ways to keep everyday items accessible without cluttering the space.
One recurring source of frustration was a pile of extra blankets that took up valuable closet space.
Blankets are bulky, and without a linen closet it’s easy for them to dominate your storage areas. Where do you store extras when space is limited?
I didn’t want blankets taking up closet space any longer, so I chose this lined wicker trunk. The removable liner makes it ideal for storing blankets, sheets, mattress pads, or extra pillows. It’s also versatile enough to hold books, craft supplies, or seasonal items.
A lidded trunk keeps the bedroom looking neater than an open basket while still offering easy access to its contents. The size of this trunk works well at the foot of the bed or tucked into a corner. It’s tall enough to hold a lot without taking up much floor space, and its shallow footprint lets it fit in many spots where a wider storage piece wouldn’t.
The rattan weave blends warm browns and soft grays with rope accents, adding texture and personality to the room. Built-in handles make it simple to move when needed. Overall, it feels decorative and practical at the same time.
