Better Homes & Gardens Kitchen Ideas and Design Inspiration

The Inspired Room in Better Homes and Gardens

Happy Monday! The word on the street is that the Better Homes & Gardens issue featuring my kitchen has finally arrived. I haven’t spotted it on a newsstand yet, but several readers have emailed to say they’ve received their copies in the mail—so check your mailbox or local store!

I did get a few copies sent by the editor, so I was able to see the spread in person (thanks, BHG!). It was thrilling to hold the magazine and see the project in print.

Have you tried the digital edition of Better Homes & Gardens on an iPad or phone? The digital version includes extra features like interviews and additional photos. There’s even an audio clip of me chatting about our kitchen and a few bonus images. It’s a different, fun way to experience the story and get more behind-the-scenes content.

Here I am in Better Homes & Gardens, standing in my kitchen and making a salad. It makes me smile every time I see it. One thing I appreciated about the shoot was how much the magazine wanted to represent a real, lived-in kitchen. The photographer and I talked in depth about what we actually make here—salads are a frequent choice at our house—so that’s what we photographed. Trying to look natural while holding a bowl of salad in front of a camera was harder than it looks, and I quickly learned I’m not cut out for celebrity life. I’d rather stay behind the screen, where the pressure is a little lower.

The whole experience was enjoyable, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share our kitchen in the pages of BHG.

Thanks so much for the kind messages and for celebrating this with me. If you missed my recent contribution to Better Homes & Gardens Style Spotters, I previously shared five simple projects from The Inspired Room—look for that post on BHG’s Style Spotters section for more ideas and inspiration.
