Merry week after Christmas! I adore this quiet, cozy week. The rush of the season is over and there’s nothing better than staying in pajamas, lingering by the fire and savoring simple treats. It’s a peaceful time to relax and enjoy the home we’ve been making.
This year we received a special treat: a very white Christmas. Snowfall is rare where we live, so we cherished every flake as we watched it settle outside while staying warm inside. It felt like a little winter miracle and made the holiday even more memorable.
Today I’m sharing several photos I took around the house in the week leading up to Christmas. If you enjoyed the Christmas video, these images give another perspective of how our home looked that week. I’ll share the snowy Christmas photos in a separate post — it truly was magical.

If you’re new here, welcome! I’ve been blogging at The Inspired Room for over a decade. These photos are from our new house — we moved in this fall and spent the weeks before Christmas making it cozy. Moving in right before the holidays made the season feel extra special.
This house has been a dream come true and I’ve written about our move and first impressions elsewhere. We plan to share more as we settle in and begin projects — some small updates and a few bigger changes down the road. It’s exciting to imagine how this home will evolve into our long-term family space.

I didn’t photograph every room this time — with the move still fresh, we focused on a few favorite spaces. Some years I share more rooms; this year felt right for a smaller tour. In coming months I’ll post about plans for the kitchen, dining room and even a possible home addition. If you enjoy home updates, please stick around — there’s more to come.

Welcome to the cozy place we call home.

One of our favorite aspects of this home is the location. We moved to a beautiful island about 1.5 hours from our previous home in Seattle. The neighborhood gives us a charming, coastal feel and the views of nearby islands and the sea are breathtaking. Finding this spot felt like an answer to wishes we’ve held for years, and after a challenging couple of years, settling here felt like a wonderful gift.

Christmas blessings to you. If you’d like to see our snowy white Christmas photos, they are available in a separate post documenting the winter wonderland that arrived at our new home.
If you missed the Christmas house tour video, it’s available to watch for a full walkthrough of the decorated spaces.
